Job Summary

The Grants and Financial Manager is a key role within the School of Public Health, responsible for overseeing the financial and research administration of one of four administrative units. This position requires a high level of financial management expertise, including budget planning, financial analysis, and research administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Provide high-level financial management support, including budgetary planning, financial analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Research Administration: Manage research administration, including payroll reconciliation, purchasing oversight, account management, and coordination of effort certification process.
  • Grant Administration: Manage and supervise grants administration staff, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Financial Planning: Develop and implement financial plans, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise and manage a team of grants administration staff.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, plus at least five to seven years of financial and budget experience, preferably in an academic setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Direct experience in financial management, including budget management, reporting, financial modeling, and financial analysis; policy implementation; and research administration, including familiarity with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Skills: Proven accounting skills/experience, including the ability to analyze and reconcile accounts; proficiency with Microsoft and GSuite Programs and FileMaker; and experience with managing staff.
Competencies
  • Administrative and Organizational Skills: Excellent administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize own workload and workload of others.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse personalities and provide effective customer service.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft and GSuite Programs and FileMaker, with experience with managing staff and financial systems.
