Position Overview

This role is centered on providing comprehensive clinical services to students, faculty, staff, and eligible family members, encompassing both episodic and primary healthcare along with health education initiatives. The position reports directly to the Medical Director of University Health Services and includes collaborative responsibilities as a Team Physician for varsity sports, alongside a faculty role with the Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient clinical services during designated clinic hours, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely referrals.
  • Fulfill ongoing medical education requirements, including updates in CPR.
  • Engage in staff meetings, committees, and initiatives aimed at quality improvement.
  • Oversee specific program activities such as walk-in clinics, occupational health, or sports medicine.
  • Contribute to departmental and institutional objectives regarding diversity and inclusion.

Additional Responsibilities

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree with a valid medical license to practice in Massachusetts or the ability to obtain licensure upon appointment.
  • Completion of three years of residency training and eligibility or certification in an adult primary care specialty.
  • Interest in sports medicine with qualifications for local hospital privileges.
  • Registration as a controlled substance practitioner in Massachusetts.
  • Ability to be insured by the Massachusetts Medical Professional Insurance Association or a similar entity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of a CAQ/Fellowship in Sports Medicine and expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound.
  • Completion of fellowship training in sports medicine.

Work Environment and Conditions

Work will be conducted in a comprehensive medical health services clinic and office setting.

Work Schedule

This position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, including some weekend and evening shifts. Weekday hours may be extended during the academic year, with occasional holidays and shared on-call responsibilities.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills, accompanied by a competitive benefits package.
