This role involves interpreting blueprints and specifications to effectively layout jobs, create patterns, and utilize a variety of metalworking techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and assemble structural metal components for automotive and public infrastructure.
- Utilize hand and power tools, including welding and cutting equipment, to complete tasks.
- Direct and oversee the work of assigned personnel, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports related to work performed.
- Operate motor vehicles as required for job duties.
Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to perform various physical activities, including lifting materials weighing up to 40 pounds and working in environments with exposure to heat, noise, and fumes. Proper personal protective equipment must be worn at all times to ensure safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five years of full-time experience as a journeyman metalwork mechanic, blacksmith, or welder.
- Alternatively, three years of relevant experience combined with sufficient vocational training to meet the equivalent experience requirement.
Licensing Requirements:
- A valid Welder's License issued by the appropriate authority.
- Certification for torch use as required.
- A Class C Commercial Driver License with necessary endorsements.
Preferred Skills: Candidates with additional certifications in specialized welding techniques are highly regarded.
Additional Information: This position is open to qualified individuals with disabilities under specific programs. Candidates may also be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs.
