Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Assistant to join our team at DePaul Senior Living Community. As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow a daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule to ensure resident rooms, common areas, and offices are clean and well-maintained.
  • Straighten or rearrange furniture as needed or requested.
  • Inspect furniture for wear and defects, and complete maintenance requests for necessary repairs.
  • Empty and reline waste baskets, and keep designated smoking area cigarette receptacles clean.
  • Replenish soap dispensers and bathroom tissue.
  • Clean rooms after residents are discharged.
  • Check rooms of residents who are moving in to ensure the room is ready.
  • Honor residents' rights, particularly related to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Report unsafe situations immediately.
  • Keep cleaning chemicals within view while performing tasks, and keep them locked up when not in use.
  • Keep janitor closets locked at all times.
  • Use safety equipment when indicated.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisory personnel to assist and ensure the safe and effective functioning of the facility.
Requirements
  • Ability to communicate with residents and others in the English language.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds without mechanical assistance.
  • Ability to visually observe residents.
  • Ability to audibly hear emergency call systems and verbal needs expressed by residents.
  • Ability to turn, stoop, bend, and stretch to perform work.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to manipulate equipment.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to emergencies.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in institutional housekeeping preferred.
  • Must have required references and a criminal record check.
  • Must be in good standing with the Criminal History Background Check.
  • Must have documentation that he/she is free from tuberculosis disease that poses a direct threat to the health and safety of others.
Work Environment

Well-lit, air-conditioned/heated environment; may be exposed to residents with communicable diseases or confused residents.
