Hotel General Manager Job Description

Champions Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hotel General Manager to lead our luxury hotel in Houston, Texas. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hotel, restaurant, poker room, and event space, ensuring exceptional guest service and exceeding revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth and improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead a high-performing team of department managers and staff, providing coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with department directors to proactively solve problems, celebrate and reward performance, and enhance overall guest satisfaction.
  • Take full ownership of the P&L for the entire property, implementing strategies to enhance revenue and control costs.
  • Analyze financial statements and performance metrics to make data-driven decisions and drive profitability.
  • Lead sales efforts by driving a marketing and promotional strategy that attracts and generates new revenue building opportunities while retaining event bookings, maximizing revenue potential.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in hotel management, with a focus on complex properties.
  • Proven experience managing diverse functions, including hotel accommodations, upscale dining, entertainment (e.g. poker room), and events.
  • Fluency in modern hotel systems architecture, strong technological literacy, and the ability to drive improvement implementation as the technology landscape evolves.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to both manage projects and communicate prioritization and progress upwards.
  • Excellent communicator, with writing and editing skills.
  • Strong financial acumen with a track record of P&L ownership and achieving financial targets.
  • Excellent leadership, development, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team.
  • Impeccable guest service orientation and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality.
