About the Role:

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist provides the cleaning and upkeep of an assigned area for ABM Industries, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions. This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of assigned facilities, including buildings, hospitals, warehouses, schools, universities, and other properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain building floors, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.
  • Dust and wash furniture, walls, machines, and equipment, and clean ceilings and light fixtures.
  • Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks.
  • Remove stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
  • Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
  • Clean and vacuum carpeted areas, including application of spot cleaning treatment.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
  • Periodically clean overhead vents, dust blinds, and polish wood furniture.
  • Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
  • Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Drive vehicles (if required) to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
  • May be expected to make basic repairs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Customer Service Experience.
  • 1 year of similar work experience.
