About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Practice Assistant to join our team at Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS). As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth delivery of patient care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional patient-centered care and support to our medical team, ensuring an optimal patient experience.
  • Coordinate activities in clinical areas and facilitate a seamless patient flow.
  • Assist with patient data collection, perform select screenings, and complete medical office functions relevant to the area or assignment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient access to care and reduce avoidable organization utilization.
  • Document patient care intake information and perform data entry/documentation of patient encounters.
  • Assist with maintenance of clinic supplies and equipment, ensuring proper inventory and requisition documentation.
  • Practice patient safety measures and identify, correct, and report safety hazards.
Requirements
  • Three years of customer service experience, preferably in a medical/healthcare/health insurance setting.
  • Patient registration experience preferred.
  • Prefer completion of coursework towards an accredited medical terminology.
  • Medical Office Assistant experience or training a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver patient/customer services that exceed patient expectations.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to problem-solve and adapt to multiple demands and priorities.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic ICD-9 CM coding and HCPCS-CPT4 procedure codes.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and basic clerical skills.
