Job Title: Clinical Medical Assistant

Under the direction of a physician, the Clinical Medical Assistant plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. This dynamic individual will perform a wide range of patient care activities, including maintaining accurate clinical records, administering medications, and taking vital signs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories and vital signs.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by the physician.
  • Take vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
  • Identify and report any adverse reactions or changes in patient condition.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician.
  • Complete all steps in the collection and processing of blood specimens, electrocardiograms, and urine samples.
  • Set up and prepare exam rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and in good working order.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and exam rooms according to established policies and procedures.
  • Prepare patients for tests, procedures, and x-rays.
  • Remove sutures and staples, and change sterile and non-sterile dressings.
  • Ability to use patient care scheduling systems and enter patient-related data into the practice management system.
  • Ability to interpret and input patient orders.
  • Ability to make observations of the general physical condition of the patient and notify the nurse/healthcare provider of abnormalities.
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • National certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • EPIC experience preferred.
  • BLS certification.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
  • Ability to accurately document patient information in accordance with organizational policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ability to make observations of the general physical condition of the patient and notify the nurse/healthcare provider of abnormalities.
  • Knowledge of principles of safe and accurate medical administration.
  • Knowledge of the 5 rights: right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time.
  • Knowledge of the importance of preventing medication errors and near-miss medication errors.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
  • Knowledge of computers, keyboard, e-mail programs, and the use of web-based applications.
  • Basic understanding of rules, regulations, and retrieval of insurance information.
