The Practical Nursing Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care services, assessing medical conditions, and preparing individuals for examinations and treatments under the supervision of a healthcare provider.
The ideal candidate for this position is enthusiastic, adaptable, possesses a positive demeanor, and most importantly, has a strong commitment to patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare patients for medical evaluations, record vital signs and medical history, and administer treatments as necessary.
- Assist in identifying medical issues, initiate and maintain intravenous lines, and administer fluids and medications as directed by provider orders.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare providers and other medical personnel during patient examinations and treatments, including administering injections, removing sutures, and applying splints and dressings.
- Authorize medication refills according to provider instructions and relay prescription details to pharmacies.
- Prepare and administer injections, change dressings, and manage wound care under provider supervision.
- Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens through standard in-house testing procedures, analyze and prepare samples for testing, log results, and perform laboratory follow-ups.
- Set up examination and treatment rooms; select, prepare, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures.
- Document patient care and procedures accurately, utilizing appropriate forms and electronic medical records.
- Coordinate patient scheduling for tests and follow-up appointments.
- Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans and medication instructions.
- Collaborate with team members, take direction, and initiate actions that promote seamless patient care across functions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
License/Certification:
Current LPN license and BLS certification are mandatory.
Experience:
A minimum of one to three years of relevant experience is preferred. BestMed is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO).
