This Inventory Management Specialist role is situated within the Supply Chain Management Service at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration.

Employment Type:
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours of work per week.

Key Responsibilities:
The Inventory Management Specialist will be responsible for various tasks including:

  • Assessing current inventory levels and consulting manufacturers' catalogs to identify alternative or interchangeable items for requisitioned supplies.
  • Engaging with clients and suppliers to gather information on the availability and functionality of non-expendable equipment and supplies.
  • Providing assistance to clients in identifying materials through thorough research of original equipment manufacturers' part catalogs.
  • Executing catalog update transactions in line with established procedures.
  • Regularly reviewing assigned manufacturer codes and part numbers to ensure accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
  • Collaborating with clinical and administrative personnel to identify and address supply-related issues.
  • Communicating supply concerns to supervisors and providing necessary information regarding customer inquiries.
  • Coordinating the logistics of new or transferred equipment and managing the return of outdated equipment.
  • Conducting thorough reviews of computer-generated listings to assist in supply identification and management.
  • Receiving and properly storing non-expendable equipment and materials, ensuring data integrity within the inventory management system.
  • Distributing items based on established requirements and maintaining accurate records of transactions.
  • Assisting in other functional areas as needed and performing additional duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
This position operates on a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Additional Information:
This role is not eligible for telework or virtual work arrangements. Participation in mandatory health programs is required.

Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess specialized experience or education that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties outlined above. Relevant experience includes managing equipment and materials, utilizing automated systems for inventory management, and providing customer support regarding non-expendable supplies.

Physical Requirements:
The role requires standing and walking throughout the workday, with frequent lifting and handling of supply packages, occasionally weighing up to 50 pounds.
