Job Summary

The Accounting Officer will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements for schools and the holding company. This role requires remaining current with new/emerging accounting pronouncements and ensuring proper adherence to requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements
  • Coordinate tax return information and oversee the audit process for all entities
  • Monitor reporting requirements and adhere to state and federal deadlines
  • Perform other duties and projects as requested by the CFO
Requirements
  • CPA designation required
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, including bond and lease accounting
  • Significant knowledge of Louisiana school reporting requirements
  • Experience in accounting for schools/corporations
  • Knowledge of and experience with month-end closings, both GAAP and governmental bases of accounting
  • Thorough knowledge of grant accounting and tracking processes
  • Experience with audit requirements for large, single-program audits
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software applications
  • 10-15 years of overall accounting/financial experience minimum
