Role of Medical Lab Technician (MLT)

As a Medical Lab Technician, you will conduct tests on blood and bodily fluids to identify the presence or absence of diseases, monitor treatment responses, and assist in health maintenance. You will interpret test results and communicate findings to the appropriate healthcare providers.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: Associate's Degree or completion of an accredited MLT Program.

Experience:

Preferred: At least 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills across various management levels, demonstrating clear verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, presentation, organizational, prioritization, decision-making, and planning skills.

Licensure/Certification:

Required: Certification as a Medical Lab Technician from a nationally recognized certifying agency or eligibility to sit for the exam at the time of hire; certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Role of Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/MT)

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist, you will perform tests on blood and body fluids to assess health conditions, monitor treatment efficacy, and contribute to health maintenance. You will provide guidance to less experienced testing personnel and address instrument issues as they arise.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: Bachelor's Degree must be obtained within 90 days or a High School Diploma or equivalent with Grandfathered status under CLIA Regulations.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various management levels, showcasing clear verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, presentation, organizational, prioritization, decision-making, and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of current information technology and ability to lead project teams for large-scale automation projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs, with advanced skills in Excel.

Licensure/Certification:

Required: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist from AMT, ASCP, or ASCPi, or eligibility to sit for the exam at the time of hire; certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
