Job Summary

The Clinical Support Resource Nurse plays a critical role in supporting high-quality, patient-centered care by providing feedback, guidance, and mentoring to new graduate nurses and/or nurses transitioning to NCH. This role involves supporting all clinical med/surg/telemetry units, providing cross-coverage at both main hospital locations, and guiding and educating on the hospital's standard of nursing practice, policies, and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform rounds on nursing units to observe/assess patient acuity and evaluate the need for intervention.
  • Identify nursing educational needs and develop educational information for nursing units as needed.
  • Act as a resource for new-to-practice nurses, escalating concerns about nursing skills, patient care, and processes to leadership as appropriate.
  • Serve as a positive professional role model, exhibiting clinical leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Perform patient care, coordinate care delivery, and utilize the nursing process.
  • Function as a subject matter expert and contribute to improving nurse satisfaction/engagement.
  • Assist patient care staff or directly educate patients and families.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for complex and/or highly specialized patient care situations.
  • Attend rapid responses and codes as needed, providing feedback and debriefing.
  • Lead and identify opportunities for practice changes.
  • Practice ethically and attain knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice.
Requirements
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care or nurse educator experience.
  • BSN strongly preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge: uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
