Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Specialist
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Job Status: Full Time
Reporting Structure: Reports to the designated authority
Role Summary: Responsible for executing custodial tasks, minor repairs, and various duties to ensure that all facilities are kept in a clean, safe, and welcoming condition for all users. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: waste disposal, floor care, landscaping, snow removal, minor repairs, security monitoring, and event setup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare facilities for daily use by ensuring all areas are accessible and safe for operation.
- Secure premises to protect the safety of all occupants and minimize potential risks.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas, including classrooms, offices, and common spaces, through regular cleaning routines.
- Set up and clean dining areas before and after meal times to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Arrange spaces for various activities and assist in maintaining cleanliness during special events.
- Respond promptly to urgent situations to ensure safety and functionality.
- Manage heating and cooling settings to create a comfortable environment while being energy efficient.
- Conduct snow and ice removal to ensure safe access during winter conditions.
- Stay informed on health and safety protocols and implement best practices in custodial work.
- Utilize cleaning equipment and chemicals effectively to maintain sanitary conditions.
- Regularly empty waste containers and ensure proper disposal in compliance with regulations.
- Assist with the delivery and movement of supplies as needed.
- Participate in seasonal cleaning and decoration activities.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks and report major issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Inspect facilities regularly to identify maintenance needs and ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Engage in thorough cleaning during school breaks and holidays as scheduled.
- Maintain cleanliness in custodial storage areas and ensure equipment is in good working order.
- Complete special projects as assigned by management.
- Be available for emergency situations as required.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in custodial or maintenance roles.
- Must demonstrate respect for the values and teachings of the organization.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of custodial methods and equipment usage.
- Ability to understand and follow safety guidelines and procedures.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that require lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
- Availability for special events and emergencies as needed.
