Position Overview:


The Surgical Technician II is accountable for establishing a sterile environment for surgical procedures, which includes the arrangement of sterile instruments, assisting surgeons with gowning and gloving, and draping patients appropriately for surgery.

This role provides direct support to the surgical team during operations by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and anticipating the needs of the surgeons throughout the surgical process.

Additionally, the technician contributes to the operational efficiency of the department by managing supplies and conducting equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as required.

Compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures is essential to ensure patient privacy and safety, thereby facilitating optimal patient care.

Responsibilities may also include performing specific procedures and assisting in the orientation of new staff within the department.

Job Description:

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED

Completion of an accredited surgical technology program

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 1 year of recent relevant experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Comprehensive understanding of surgical instruments, procedures, views, and equipment.

Ability to interpret various forms of data and instructions, whether written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled.

Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.

Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including those without medical backgrounds.


Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and operate within established procedures and scientific methods to meet objectives and deadlines.

Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Capable of identifying, evaluating, and resolving standard issues by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.

Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues and other healthcare professionals to achieve departmental and organizational goals.

Pay Range is $40.47 to $50.58 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location.

This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.

Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
