Lead Buyer and Inventory Strategist

Position Summary: DHI CORP is seeking a knowledgeable Buyer/Planner to enhance our procurement team. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in sourcing finished products, managing global supply chains, and demonstrating proficiency in demand forecasting and planning. This position requires a blend of strategic purchasing and meticulous planning to maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure efficient supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities:Planning and Forecasting:
- Facilitate monthly forecasting sessions with sales, product development, and production teams to assess inputs and adjust forecasts accordingly.
- Employ advanced forecasting techniques and tools to anticipate future inventory requirements.
- Develop purchasing strategies aligned with inventory levels, market dynamics, demand variations, and supplier production schedules.
Buying and Inventory Management:
- Create and implement purchasing strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Process purchase orders and manage direct and blanket orders to fulfill sales demands while monitoring in-stock rates of critical items.
- Continuously assess demand and supply timelines, adjusting procurement schedules to enhance customer service and meet inventory targets.
- Optimize sales and inventory turnover by managing supply chains and formulating effective inventory strategies.
Supply Chain Collaboration:
- Engage with suppliers to conduct quarterly business reviews, fostering strong partnerships and addressing quality, lead time, and delivery challenges.
- Collaborate with the supply chain team, brokers, and third-party logistics providers to oversee and track shipments.
- Assist in resolving invoice discrepancies and transaction issues.
- Manage relationships with distribution centers, organizing meetings to discuss quality, capacity, and logistical concerns.
Corporate Responsibilities:
- Lead the procurement team in identifying and implementing process enhancements. Maintain and update documentation and standard operating procedures for demand planning.
- Ensure proficiency with ERP systems and industry best practices.
- Complete special projects as assigned by management.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. APICS CPIM certification is preferred.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in forecasting, planning, and purchasing, particularly with finished goods.
- Experience with international suppliers is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of volume sales drivers by SKU across high-traffic Ecommerce platforms.
- Solid background in Ecommerce supply chain management and S&OP is a significant plus.
- Demonstrated business acumen and analytical skills: ability to leverage data-driven insights for decision-making and risk assessment.
- Familiarity with NetSuite and NSPB or similar forecasting tools is beneficial.
- Capability to present data effectively and influence discussions with executives and cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated with strong follow-through and attention to detail.
This role may require occasional standing, walking, sitting, and using hands for various tasks. The employee may need to lift or move items weighing up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:The employee will work in an office and warehouse setting, with typical exposure to varying temperatures and minimal noise levels.
