Crane Supervisor Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Crane Operations Coordination: Supervise and coordinate all crane operations, ensuring that all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections of cranes, rigging equipment, and surrounding areas to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Operator Management: Manage, train, and mentor crane operators and riggers, ensuring they are fully competent and certified to perform their duties.
  • Lifting Plans and Risk Assessments: Develop and implement lifting plans and risk assessments for all crane activities, including complex and non-routine lifts.
  • Logistics and Maintenance Coordination: Liaise with operations, logistics, and maintenance teams to schedule crane activities, minimize downtime, and optimize operational flow.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor crane performance, maintenance needs, and compliance with regulatory standards, coordinating with maintenance teams for repairs and inspections.
  • Incident Response: Respond promptly to any incidents or emergencies, leading investigations and implementing corrective actions.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational or technical training in crane operations or supervision preferred. Proven experience as a crane operator (minimum 10+ years) with knowledge of crane safety regulations and best practices.
  • Leadership and Certification: Previous supervisory or leadership experience is desirable. Certification from a recognized crane operator training program or crane supervisor certification preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in operating various crane types (overhead, mobile, gantry). Familiarity with crane safety management systems (CSMS) or crane safety audits. Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking crane maintenance.
