Job Overview:

The CPI Investigative Supervisor I plays a crucial role in overseeing complex consultative services and technical assistance within the Child Protective Investigations Division.

This position is responsible for managing a team of administrative staff and caseworkers tasked with conducting investigations and Alternative Response (AR) cases.

The Supervisor ensures effective case consultations and monitors case statuses by leveraging data analytics to identify trends and patterns related to child safety and risk factors.

Key responsibilities include selecting, hiring, and developing staff through performance evaluations, individual meetings, case reviews, and field assessments to maintain productivity and adherence to policies and procedures.

In addition, the Supervisor provides expert guidance and consultative services to enhance service delivery and improve outcomes for families.

This role requires making critical decisions that impact child protection and involves regular consultations with various stakeholders, including program directors and external partners, to address complex and sensitive cases.

The position demands a high-energy, fast-paced approach to daily assessments and decision-making regarding child safety issues.

Regular on-call duties are required, including availability during weekends and holidays, to ensure compliance with the Child Protective Services Handbook and relevant regulations.

The Supervisor interacts frequently with clients, legal representatives, and other professionals involved in investigations, working under limited supervision while exercising considerable initiative and independent judgment.


Core Responsibilities:

- Attend work consistently and perform assigned duties as needed.

- Oversee daily case actions related to safety, risk, and permanency.

- Ensure timely communication with families and continuous assessment of child safety throughout investigations.

- Evaluate unit performance through case reviews and ensure compliance with departmental policies.

- Implement program guidelines and conduct unit meetings to address operational matters.

- Train and develop staff through regular performance appraisals and field visits.

- Consult with staff to interpret program policies and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.

- Represent the program at various meetings and events.

- Perform additional duties as required to support unit operations.



Essential Knowledge and Skills:

- In-depth knowledge of state and federal regulations related to the INV/AR program.

- Specialized understanding of child welfare practices.

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships.

- Proficiency in using computer systems and software.

- Competence in preparing clear and concise reports.

- Strong analytical skills to assess and manage multiple responsibilities.
