Role Overview:


The Senior Cloud Solutions Architect plays a pivotal role in establishing a robust technology framework while providing expert guidance in modernization and risk mitigation efforts within cloud computing and automation. This position emphasizes the architecture of systems and services that operate natively on cloud platforms or as hybrid solutions.


In this capacity, the architect ensures that applications are meticulously designed to meet performance, security, monitoring, high availability, and disaster recovery standards.


The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in architecting large-scale IT operations within substantial organizations.


This role demands exceptional leadership, communication, collaboration, and team-building capabilities, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse groups and stakeholders across multiple projects as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME).


Core Responsibilities:


Cloud Architecture and Development (50%):

  • Exhibit expertise in AWS cloud architecture and its implementation features, including serverless computing, authentication, authorization, and API design.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Azure DevOps, GitHub, or other DevOps tools.
  • Showcase knowledge of CI/CD Pipelines, focusing on pipeline automation using tools such as Checkmarx, SonarQube, and NPM audit.
  • Utilize infrastructure-as-code methodologies with tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert, providing comprehensive cloud reference architectures for both native and hybrid cloud solutions.
  • Create a repository of deployable and well-documented cloud design patterns, derived from the modernization application portfolio, to facilitate cloud service deployment.
  • Exhibit leadership by backing decisions with thorough research, presenting multiple options with their respective pros and cons, and effectively communicating solutions to leadership.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technologies.
  • Develop architectural solutions and assess alternatives for private, public, and hybrid cloud models, including SaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services.
  • Contribute to DevOps development initiatives and complex development tasks.
  • Define optimal design patterns and solutions to ensure high availability and disaster recovery for applications.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and data privacy teams to meet security requirements, translating these needs to developers and infrastructure teams.


Consultation (20%):

  • Drive the definition of project scope, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application development, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment.
  • Ensure that delivered solutions align with technical and functional/non-functional requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and ownership in diagnosing and resolving issues, including determining workarounds or escalating to service owners.
  • Offer guidance on best practices and recommendations regarding technical governance, cloud architectures, deployment, and operations.


Thought Leadership (20%):

  • Provide thought leadership within the industry and to team members, business stakeholders, and program management.
  • Communicate the technology framework and solutions to architectural review boards.
  • Advocate for and define the strategic vision of cloud architecture, encompassing internal and external platforms, tools, budgets, and systems.


Mentoring (10%):

  • Act as a mentor to team members and technical staff.
  • Lead the development of cloud reference architecture and management systems.
  • Conduct product and governance reviews with team members.
