We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at Fresenius Medical Care North America. As a key member of our dialysis healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines
- Conduct vascular access cannulation and administer heparin as delegated or allowed by state law
- Obtain necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight, and perform vascular access evaluation
- Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, including blood flow and dialysate flow
- Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy and provide intervention as prescribed by physician order or directed
- Document patient information, including treatment data and vital signs, in a timely and accurate manner
- Collaborate with the clinical manager and education coordinator to drive organization quality standards through education and continuous quality improvement
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid PCT national certification or state-specific certification as defined by Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)
- At least two years of previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred
- Successful completion of the organization's dialysis training program and CPR certification
The work environment is characteristic of a healthcare facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. You may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials. The position requires frequent, prolonged periods of standing and the ability to bend over. You may occasionally be required to push and/or pull equipment, exerting up to 15 pounds of force.
