Position Overview

Community Medical and Dental Care Inc. is seeking a dedicated Vision Rehabilitation Specialist to provide essential therapy services to children experiencing visual challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop tailored rehabilitation and instructional strategies in collaboration with clients, informed by comprehensive assessments and individual goals.
  • Advise on suitable mobility aids and systems, including human guides, canine assistance, long canes, and electronic travel aids.
  • Distribute low-vision devices to enhance patient independence.
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting rehabilitation plans as necessary.
  • Document assessments, training sessions, and follow-up outcomes through detailed reports.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including rehabilitation counselors, speech therapists, and occupational therapists, to create holistic solutions for clients.
  • Provide educational support and consultation to groups such as parents and educators.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through literature review, continuing education, and peer collaboration.
  • Refer clients to additional services such as eye care, health care, and counseling to improve visual and daily functioning.
  • Identify visual impairments affecting essential life skills, including self-care, literacy, and health management.
Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional patient care abilities.
  • Strong listening skills and empathy for the visually impaired.
  • In-depth knowledge of visual impairment causes and effects.

Education and Experience:

  • A Master's degree is required; advanced degrees such as PA, NP, MD, or PhD are preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience is necessary.
