Key Responsibilities- Develop tailored rehabilitation and instructional strategies in collaboration with clients, based on comprehensive assessments and individual goals.
- Advise on suitable mobility aids and assistive technologies, including long canes and electronic travel devices.
- Facilitate the acquisition and distribution of low-vision aids.
- Track and evaluate client progress, adjusting rehabilitation plans as necessary.
- Document assessments, training sessions, and follow-up outcomes through detailed reports.
- Work alongside specialists such as rehabilitation counselors and occupational therapists to enhance client care.
- Provide educational support to groups, including parents and educators.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through literature review and collaboration with peers.
- Refer clients to additional services, including eye care and counseling, to support their overall functioning.
- Identify visual impairments affecting daily living skills, such as self-care and communication.
Required Skills:
- Exceptional patient care abilities.
- Strong listening skills and empathy for the visually impaired.
- In-depth knowledge of visual impairment causes and effects.
Education and Experience:
- A Master's degree is required; PA, NP, MD, or PhD is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience is necessary.
