Job Title: Field Technician I

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Technician I to join our team at GTN Technical Staffing.

Job Summary:

The Field Technician I will be responsible for performing onsite or inhouse servicing, repair, and/or installation of customer equipment. This includes troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment systems and wiring, installation of equipment, upgrades, modifications, programming, preventive maintenance actions, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation, preventive, and corrective maintenance of equipment, including tolling system equipment, PC-based computers, video surveillance equipment, network communications equipment, and/or radio equipment detectors, antennas, and controller cabinets.
  • Installs electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic cable.
  • Terminates CAT 6 and AVI conductors.
  • Connects conductors to equipment and ensures the equipment is functioning correctly.
  • Connects electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.
  • Tests devices to ensure they function correctly.
  • Completes reports and logs and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local practices.
  • Responds to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within an acceptable time frame. Diagnoses and repairs hardware, software, and system issues.
  • Reports technical status of the system with accuracy and completeness.
  • Restores equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.
  • Maintenance of spare equipment and parts following guidelines set forth to do so.
  • Module or PC Board swap out.
  • Isolation of faults in units or components.
  • Field test of units or components.
  • Electronic filing of work orders.
  • Assists with the training of less experienced technicians.
  • Mass production of cables, assemblies, etc. for installation.
  • Rewiring, pulling cable, and/or removals at sites.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time during installation projects.
  • Must be able to drive and have a clean driving record.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. One year certificate from college or technical school is preferred.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Driving record must be free of DUI/DWI for a three-year period prior to employment.
  • Prior toll maintenance and electronic bench repair experience preferred.
