MLee Healthcare is on the lookout for a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to oversee a proficient laboratory team at a distinguished independent community healthcare facility. This role presents an excellent opportunity to enhance your career in a supportive environment.


Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, daytime hours

Key Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Director, you will plan, manage, and coordinate departmental operations:

1. Supervise the daily workflow of the laboratory, including staff scheduling and assessing departmental requirements, while developing effective communication methods and monitoring off-shift activities.

2. Ensure ongoing education and documentation of laboratory personnel's continuing education.

3. Conduct regular assessments of staff competencies and organize annual competency evaluations.

4. Investigate issues related to sample integrity or result accuracy, including follow-up on incidents.

5. Oversee Technical Specialists to guarantee compliance with CAP Checklists and Accreditation standards.

6. Assist in strategic planning and the implementation of laboratory objectives.

7. Perform inspections at various sites to ensure compliance.

8. Actively review, maintain, and update laboratory policy and procedure manuals.

9. Maintain comprehensive records of all updates to Meditech and Chargemaster systems, ensuring functionality and consistency through periodic testing.

10. Serve as a liaison between Information Systems, Revenue Cycle, and the Laboratory to ensure compliance with all guidelines.

11. Collaborate with LIS Technical Specialists to ensure compliance and functionality of all instrument interfaces, working with IS for issue resolution.

12. Develop and maintain all LIS dictionaries across departments including Chemistry, Immunology, Serology, Blood Bank, Molecular, Hematology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Histology, Pathology, and testing menus.

13. Provide consultation to address inquiries and concerns from physicians and their office staff regarding specimen handling and patient result reporting.

14. Oversee the continuous monitoring of quality control results, identifying trends, shifts, or variations from expected ranges, and apply fundamental statistical methods in quality control.

15. Participate in the evaluation of laboratory processes to formulate strategies for improvement.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field or Medical Technology from an accredited institution (or equivalent laboratory experience as deemed appropriate by ASCP or CLIA criteria).
- Board Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent registry such as AMT or NAACLS.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- No written disciplinary actions within the last year.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous supervisory experience.
- Experience in a clinical laboratory environment, with recent exposure to multiple areas.
- Familiarity with DNV-GL and CAP accreditation processes.
- Experience in Performance and Process Improvement methodologies such as DMAIC and/or Lean.
- Exposure to Meditech hospital information systems.
