Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflows and optimal use of resources.
  • Staff Supervision: Recruit, train, and mentor laboratory staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop, implement, and monitor quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP).
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all laboratory activities meet federal, state, and local regulations, maintaining laboratory accreditation and certifications.
  • Inventory Management: Manage laboratory supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate inventory levels and proper maintenance of instruments.
  • Data Management: Oversee the accurate reporting of laboratory results and maintain records in compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians and clinical staff to support patient care initiatives and optimize testing protocols.
  • Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing the laboratory budget, monitoring expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve laboratory processes, enhance efficiency, and implement new technologies as appropriate.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, quality control processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and data management.
