Tidewater Staffing is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic for a temp to perm opportunity in Hampton, Chesapeake, and Williamsburg, VA. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing heavy duty diesel vehicles or other equipment under the supervision of the wrecker division Operations Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and/or repair all mechanical, electrical, and electronic components on a wide variety of commercial vehicles and equipment within the time limits as outlined in standard labor guidelines.
- Demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of preventative maintenance programs.
- Have at least 3 years experience as a medium/heavy duty truck or school bus mechanic.
- Perform preventative maintenance per PM checklists.
- Recognize and define unsafe conditions on vehicles and potential breakdown conditions.
- Identify, prioritize, and perform needed repairs both scheduled and unscheduled.
- Ensure all shop equipment is maintained and inspected according to regulations.
- Assist with scheduling vehicle downtime.
- Maintain shop cleanliness and safety according to company and OSHA regulations.
- State Inspector License is a PLUS but not required.
- CDL is preferred but not required.
- Have some personal tools to perform the work.
