Job Summary:
Teck Resources is seeking a skilled Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join their team at Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and examine mobile equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain power transmission, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and braking systems.
- Diagnose, dismantle, assemble, and align mobile equipment.
- Complete routine tasks such as lubrication of fleet equipment, seal replacement, cleaning of parts during an overhaul, and preventative maintenance.
- Interact with various employees on the property to coordinate services and prioritize work.
- Complete preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles.
- Provide accurate work closure details recorded on work orders.
- Maintain and keep tools in a clean and orderly condition.
- Serve as relief Maintenance Supervisor when required.
- Communicate effectively with other trade personnel, colleagues, and supervisor about assigned tasks and completed tasks.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic or 10 or more years' experience in heavy industrial maintenance environment.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft office applications.
- Ability to adhere to high safety standards.
- Willingness to work day, afternoon, or night shifts as required.
- Team player with excellent communication skills.
- Highly motivated with ability to perform tasks with limited direction.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme climatic conditions.
- Perform labor-intensive work when required.
