Senior Accounting Manager

Accion is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Manager to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing the accounting and general ledger activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the month-end closing process, ensuring financial statements are fairly stated and in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Oversee and manage revenue recognitions, accounts receivable processes, and employees supporting these functions.
  • Ensure US federally funded projects adhere to US federal government regulations.
  • Analyze monthly results to identify and address irregularities, prepare correcting entries as needed, and interact with the Budget Director to improve processes.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Accion accounting team on project and general ledger coding, revenue recognition, capitalization of assets, and other accounting questions.
  • Prepare payroll liability reconciliations, review Balance Sheet reconciliations, and work closely with the Finance Systems Senior Manager to improve accounting processes and reporting.
  • Manage the annual independent financial audit, provide details, and support donor and USG audits as needed.
  • Provide mentoring and evaluation to entry-level Associates/Senior Associates and liaise with Accion departments to solve finance or administrative issues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's and/or CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of related experience in accounting, with international accounting experience a plus.
  • Accounting experience with non-profits required (2-3 years); for-profit accounting experience desired.
  • Proven knowledge of ASC 606 and US GAAP accounting principles, including practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Experience with US federal government grants and contracts as it relates to Accounting a plus.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and interfaces between systems, with previous use of NetSuite systems desired.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and related tools for accounting and reporting.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Salary Range: $98K - $125K
