Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Summary

Rapides Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our medical imaging department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the lead technologist to coordinate daily operations and functions of Nuclear Medicine Services.
  • Assess performance of quality control procedures and documentation regarding equipment checks and calibrations on pharmaceutical tagging.
  • Ensure proper receipt, handling, and disposal of radioactive materials according to regulations and policies.
  • Perform diagnostic exams on patients as prescribed by physicians, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and produce images of organs.
  • Measure radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors.
  • Follow radiation safety techniques and policies in the use and disposal of radioactive materials.
  • Provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general population.
  • Assess, evaluate, and inform physicians of changes in patient condition during testing.
  • Prepare and instruct patients for exams, ensuring their safety and comfort.
Requirements:
  • Associate Degree in a related field.
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB) or Registered Radiographer (ARRT) certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or CPR for Healthcare Providers certification, obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
