Position Title: Lien Resolution Specialist

Salary: $25-$28/hour; DOE

Location: Hybrid or Remote

Schedule: Full-Time; Monday-Friday

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Lien Resolution Specialist to become a vital part of our team at Dworkin and Maciariello.

In this role, you will be instrumental in overseeing the lien resolution process for our cases, ensuring that all liens are resolved accurately and promptly in compliance with legal standards.

Your duties will encompass acquiring settlement releases, preparing and sending lien release proposals to lien holders, negotiating with health insurance providers and other entities for lien reductions or eliminations, and maintaining clear communication with clients throughout the settlement journey.


Key Responsibilities:

Management of Settlement Releases:
Secure settlement releases and archive them appropriately for each case.

Preparation of Lien Release Proposals:
Create and dispatch lien release proposals to lien holders in accordance with applicable regulations.

Negotiation of Liens:

Engage with health insurance companies to finalize liens, negotiate reductions, or remove unrelated treatments, striving for favorable results for our clients.


Client Communication:
Maintain ongoing communication with clients throughout the settlement process, keeping them updated on progress and forthcoming steps.

Document Organization:
Systematically organize and archive all proposals, ensuring precise record-keeping and easy access.

Follow-Up Procedures:
Pursue unreceived proposals or counteroffers from lien holders, ensuring timely resolutions.

Liaison for Loans and Child Support:

Contact loan companies for final payoffs on cases and child support agencies to negotiate final liens, as necessary.


Management of Deadlines:

Monitor upcoming statutes of limitations (SOLs) and proactively send releases to clients if approaching SOL dates.


Drafting Settlement Statements:
Prepare settlement statements and assign them to attorneys for final approval.

Assistance with Client Signatures:
Forward settlement statements and releases to clients for their signatures, providing assistance as needed.

Document Management:

Organize and save settlement documents, witness signatures as required, and notarize when necessary.


Follow-Up on Settlement Checks:

Send releases to adjusters or opposing counsel with hold harmless language and request settlement checks, following up until they are scanned into the file.


Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Experience in multitasking and thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Strong time management skills.

Prior legal experience, particularly in lien negotiation and settlement.

Familiarity with lien resolution processes and legal requirements.
