Position Summary: The individual in this role is expected to effectively manage essential responsibilities that contribute to community safety and conflict resolution. The following outlines the key duties and qualifications required for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather intelligence on potential conflicts within high-risk neighborhoods.
- Develop strategic action plans aimed at conflict resolution.
- Participate in regular meetings with fellow outreach workers and violence interrupters.
- Engage with high-risk individuals and groups daily to address pressing issues.
- Implement measures to avert violent incidents and potential retaliatory actions.
- Establish connections with influential community members and organizations.
- Facilitate referrals for clients to case managers for comprehensive support services.
- Maintain accurate documentation of resolved conflicts.
- Encourage participant involvement in program activities.
- Respond to community needs as required.
- Foster relationships with high-risk individuals to intervene in potential violent situations.
- Document all interactions with high-risk individuals on a daily basis.
- Identify and mitigate areas prone to violence.
- Investigate the underlying causes of violence to assist in mediation efforts and prevent retaliatory incidents.
- Conduct outreach to the community to build rapport with residents, businesses, and local organizations.
- Communicate effectively with clients to ensure understanding and support.
- Utilize restorative practices to de-escalate and resolve conflicts.
- Collaborate closely with Street Outreach and the Crisis Response Support Network.
- Work cohesively as part of a team to reduce incidents of violence.
- Ensure meticulous documentation of all client interactions.
- Attend regular staff meetings to discuss program developments.
- Represent the Puerto Rican Cultural Center in discussions regarding strategies to combat gun violence and enhance youth services.
- Engage in collaborative violence prevention initiatives with other service providers.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
This position requires adherence to all organizational standards, including policies and procedures related to conduct and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with at-risk youth or adults affected by gang involvement is essential.
- Individuals with personal experiences related to violence or the criminal justice system are particularly encouraged to apply, provided they have been out of incarceration for at least 24 months.
- Understanding of urban youth challenges, particularly regarding youth violence and juvenile justice.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working with at-risk populations is required, with at least 1 year in case management or violence interruption preferred.
- Possession of a reliable vehicle, valid insurance, and DMV clearance is necessary throughout employment.

Education:
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred; candidates working towards completion will be considered.
Working Conditions:
This position involves minimal exposure to hazardous materials, with no regular contact with blood or bodily fluids.
Compensation:
Salary: $45,000
