Commercial Lines Underwriter II

About the RoleThis is a key position in our Commercial Lines team, responsible for analyzing and underwriting business to meet capital metric and combined ratio goals. You'll be working with a $15-25M book of business, developing a team of Underwriter I's and Underwriter Trainees, and utilizing your underwriting expertise to determine risk acceptability, pricing, and underwriting guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and underwrite a $15-25M book of business to meet capital metric and combined ratio goals.
- Assist the Senior Underwriter team with accountabilities and achieving business unit goals through high-quality decision making on underwriting and excellent underwriting practices and guidelines.
- Develop positive producer relationships and foster pre-existing partnerships.
- Collaborate with the larger Commercial Lines team and other departments to further develop and enhance VRU products and service operations.
- Manage, train, and mentor Underwriting Assistants and provide coaching and mentorship guidance to Underwriter I's.

- Proven capability for confidentiality
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree (Risk Management or similar) or equivalent industry experience
- 3+ years of commercial insurance experience
- Professional insurance designations a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
