About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our Commercial Lines team. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for analyzing and underwriting business to meet combined ratio and capital metric goals. You will have a book of business up to $30M and will utilize your underwriting expertise to determine risk acceptability, pricing, and underwriting guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and underwrite business to meet combined ratio and capital metric goals
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with producers and agencies
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Lines team and other departments to develop and enhance products and services
  • Lead and develop direct reports, including organization of workflow and expectations
  • Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to Underwriter II's, Underwriter I's, and Underwriter Assistants

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (i.e., Risk Management or similar); CPCU or other professional designations are a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial underwriting experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of P&C underwriting principles and practices
  • Ability to underwrite individual accounts and support a portfolio underwriting approach
