Route Operations Manager

This role is responsible for overseeing the onboarding, development, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all CDL drivers and helpers. The successful candidate will establish and maintain positive relationships with frontline employees, spending the majority of the day in the field with frontline employees, with driving required.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOnboardingEnsure new frontline employees have the necessary tools, instruction, and feedback for successful daily duties. Meet with new frontline employees daily to ensure consistent communication and support of onboarding.
DevelopingProvide timely and consistent touchpoints with frontline employees. Regularly review best practices to enhance daily performance and focus on understanding and progress of frontline employee career goals.
CoachingIdentify and address improvement opportunities and collaborate with frontline employees to ensure continued success. Actively practice and seek feedback on coaching conversations.
MentoringLead by example to ensure safety practices are paramount with each employee and teach and develop an understanding of the WM Way.
Performance ManagementConducts Root Cause Investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining. Documents and maintains records required by regulatory agencies such as the Department of Transportation. Reviews and audits documentation related to route operations daily, following up where appropriate.
QualificationsA. Education and ExperienceAn Associate Degree (accredited) or High School Diploma (accredited) and two (2) years of relevant work experience are required. No experience or successful completion of the WM Route Manager Trainee program is required.
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other RequirementsNo requirements are necessary.
Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a mix between an office environment and plant/field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.
The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
