Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Perinatal team at Christus Health. As a Registered Nurse in our Labor and Delivery Department, you will have the opportunity to provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to patients in the Labor and Delivery Department, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Document patient information, including medical history, symptoms, and care provided, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and evidence-based care.

Requirements:

  • 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
  • Perinatal RN Residency, or recently practicing in a Perinatal Setting is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
  • All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
  • New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member and initial on-boarding requirements are validated through successful completion of the designated organizational entry competency validation and Perinatal Department-specific competency validation.
  • Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:

  • BLS required.
  • RN License in state of employment or compact.
  • Current certification from NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or one of the following AWHONN courses: Intermediate FHM, Intermediate FHM Instructor, Advanced FHM Instructor, or Instructor Trainer at time of hire or prior to the end of orientation for experienced nurses; within 90 days of hire for new graduates and experienced nurses new to the specialty then required to maintain course certification thereafter.
  • Current ACLS certification within 30 days of hire for experienced nurses; within 90 days of hire for new graduates then required to maintain certification thereafter.
  • Current NRP certification at time of hire for experienced nurses; within 60 days for new graduates and experienced nurses new to the specialty then required to maintain certification thereafter.
