We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian II to serve as the Head of Children's Services at the City of North Miami Beach, FL. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong passion for children's literature, education, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the daily activities of the Children's Services department, including collection development, programming, and community outreach.
- Develop and implement services for children through 6th grade, including literacy programs, storytime, and other educational activities.
- Serve as a member of the library's management team, providing guidance and support to staff members.
- Supervise Children's staff, providing coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with other library departments to develop and implement programs and services that meet the needs of the community.
- Stay up-to-date with current library issues and trends, attending workshops, conferences, and courses to enhance professional development.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Media Specialist, Academic Research, Computer Science, or related field.
- Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or related program from an ALA-accredited graduate school.
- Three years or more experience in public library services, with a focus on children's services.
- Valid Florida driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Experience in adult services and programming, or digital archival experience.
- Supervisory experience, including part-time employees and volunteers.
- Knowledge of library automation systems and applications.
- Knowledge of cataloging principles and practices.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques.
