Job Summary

As a Licensed Practical Nurse with McLaren Health Care, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents in a long-term care and rehabilitation setting. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care and a passion for working with older adults.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and indirect resident care as specified by individual resident care plans and physician orders.
  • Conduct daily resident visits and observe and evaluate physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in the medical record according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Administer medications and record medications given in the Medical Administration Record (MAR).
  • Supervise and delegate responsibilities for direct care staff per resident's needs.
  • Maintain inventory of nursing supplies and ensure proper use of equipment and supplies.
  • Assist physicians with examinations and treatments as needed.
  • Notify the physician and family of death during shift of duty.
  • Monitor resident's nursing care to ensure that resident's rights are maintained.
  • Participate in and complete all mandatory in-services and educational opportunities as directed.
Requirements
  • Current RN/LPN licensure from the State of Michigan.
  • Previous geriatric experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer literacy, including use of computer programs and applications.
  • CPR trained and possess a current BLS certification.
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced long-term care and rehabilitation setting with residents who are experiencing a wide range of medical, surgical, end-of-life, and/or psychological problems. A flexible work schedule is required, and the ability to work on resident units, nurses' stations, resident rooms, medication rooms, therapy areas, lounges, and all parts of the facility where resident care may be rendered is necessary.

Exposure to blood, body tissue, and other infectious fluids is possible, as well as exposure to agitated or hostile residents, family members, or visitors. Occasional exposure to injuries due to unpredictable behaviors of residents may also occur.
