As the Vice Provost, Law and Public Service Leader at Dallas College, you will provide leadership for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of credit hour programs in their respective fields. This role involves serving as an advocate for students, faculty, instructors, local business, and industry.

Responsibilities include assisting and advising the Provost in matters pertaining to professional and technical education, actively engaging with community and employer partners to create new partnerships, responsive programs, and revenue opportunities.

Key qualifications include progressive experience as an academic administrator involving graduate or undergraduate programs, including responsibility for budget, personnel recruitment, and evaluation.

Additionally, you will have experience in strategic planning, assessment of program effectiveness, and development of guidelines to enhance academic units within the institution and with accrediting bodies.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of curriculum design and its application to sound academic management, demonstrated negotiation, consultative, and facilitation skills, particularly in academic environments and with academic leaders and faculty.

They will also have the ability to set a clear and inspiring vision for the academic school, aligning it with the mission and strategic goals.

Strong academic credentials and subject matter expertise relevant to the school's programs are required.

Collaboration and Team Building:

Skill in building and leading high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative culture, effective communication skills to articulate the school's mission, goals, and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.

Strong listening skills to understand the needs and concerns of faculty, staff, and students, a commitment to student success, including implementing initiatives to improve retention, graduation rates, and academic achievement.

Data-Driven Decision-Making:

Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to use data to inform decision-making and program improvements, strong financial acumen for managing budgets and resources efficiently while prioritizing academic quality.

Grant writing and fundraising skills to secure additional resources for the school.

Advocacy and Representation:

Advocacy for the academic school and its faculty, staff, and students within the college administration and in the broader community, building strong relationships with external partners, such as local businesses and industry stakeholders.

The ability to create a welcoming environment for all members of the school community, handling the challenges and pressures of leading an academic school in a complex and ever-changing educational landscape.

Requirements include five years of progressively responsible teaching, administrative, and/or educational leadership experience, three years of upper-level administrative/supervisory experience in a community college/higher education environment.

Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, strategic planning, fiscal management, resource allocation, and personnel supervision, a distinguished record of teaching, scholarly publications, and/or creative accomplishments that exhibit commitment to academic excellence.

Bilingual or multilingual skills are preferred.

Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment.

Oversee Faculty and Academic managers, with direct responsibility for academic excellence initiatives: Curriculum Strategy, SLO/Assessment, Tutoring and supplemental academic support, Instruction and Faculty professional development.

Develop and maintain student pathways and degree maps within the School, ensuring students have the ability to take the courses and programs they need to reach economic security and success.

Oversee each school-specific program and Faculty, Admin, or Staff member across geographic location, ensuring consistency of offerings to create a seamless student experience.

Work with Workforce & Advancement team to ensure student opportunities with community and workforce partners during their time in the program and after completion.

Coordinate with Academic Services team to provide academic support for students through access to tailored resources (e.g., library, tutoring).

Ensure excellence of curriculum and offerings through benchmarking and assessment of school and community needs.

Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

Leads and facilitates initiatives that are critical of the Office of the Provost.
