Assistant Store Manager Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team at Smart Foodservice Stores LLC. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our store, providing exceptional customer service, and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coach employees to deliver excellent customer service and achieve sales targets.
  • Address personnel and performance issues, including coaching, verbal and written warnings, and consult with Store Manager and HR on next steps.
  • Ensure compliance with personnel policies and procedures, and understand the mechanics of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Profit and Loss (P&L).
  • Assist in budgeting and achieving sales and profit targets, and manage shrinkage with a focus on front-end processes.
  • Participate in the annual inventory process, train employees on required programs, and ensure all staff comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide day-to-day direction to employees, including schedules, store goals, and sales and shrinkage targets, and perform Manager-on-duty functions.
  • Plan in-store demonstrations, prepare and set up demo carts, and distribute product samples.
  • Oversee receiving, returns, and restocking, and maintain merchandising programs, including promotional ends, signage, and other company or market-specific programs.
  • Communicate with employees about merchandising and marketing programs, and assist in executing and reporting on these initiatives.

Requirements:

  • A two-year college degree or equivalent work experience required; a degree in Business Management, Supply Chain/Wholesale Management, or Accounting/Finance strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in a retail work environment, with at least two years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to think quickly and critically, make good business decisions, and demonstrate good common sense.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and self-drive, and possess solid communication and conversational skills and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Competency and proficiency with computer applications and Microsoft programs.
