We are seeking an experienced Utility Foreman to join our team at Upstone Materials Inc. in St. Augustine, FL.

Job Summary

The Utility Foreman will be responsible for managing the day-to-day utility operations of our construction projects, including supervising vendors, subcontractors, and personnel.

Main Responsibilities
  • Supervise various phases of a utility operation, such as the installation of storm drainage, water, and sewer utilities.
  • Read and interpret plans to ensure accurate execution of utility operations.
  • Set and check grade to ensure proper installation of utilities.
  • Have general knowledge of dig law, sloping, and safe excavation practices.
  • Communicate effectively with the Department of Transportation and other customers, as well as with employees and subcontractors.
  • Implement environmental, health, and safety regulations and policies.
  • Arrange for maintenance and repair of equipment, including keeping equipment serviced, lubricated, and in good working order.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate daily activities and work assignments for your team.
  • Deliveries, productions, and record keeping.
  • Maintain daily records of all significant project facts, events, and conditions.
  • Recognize potential problems before breakdowns occur and take corrective action.
  • Work safely and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Instruct and train employees to ensure the safety of workers.
  • Accurately track and report daily work hours for crew, equipment utilization, and quantities of work performed.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in Storm, Water, and/or Sewer Utilities.
  • 1-2 years of foreman experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people, equipment, and materials in a safe, efficient, and ethical manner.
  • Knowledge of traffic control standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate equipment such as excavators, loaders, and rollers.
  • Travel in short intervals may be required.
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in the English language, both verbally and in written form.
  • Must possess a valid, current driver's license.
  • Experience using computers, tablets, and applications related to email and timekeeping.
Physical Demands
  • Climb onto and up and down several times a day.
  • Withstand vibration from job site conditions and noise from other equipment.
  • Use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions.
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.

The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
