Job Title: Special Education Paraprofessional

Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate paraprofessional to join our team in the greater Madison area. As a paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in their academic and behavioral development.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to provide academic and behavioral assistance to students with special needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with special needs in their academic and behavioral development, including following IEP objectives and facilitating teacher-directed learning activities.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and other support staff to ensure seamless support for students.
  • Accompany students during recess and lunch periods, as well as community experiences.
  • Strictly adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding student information.
  • Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel.
  • Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities.
  • May be asked to assist in behavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or other school professionals.
  • Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom.
  • Assist with transfers and ambulation.
  • Appropriately report changes in client status or as directed by IHP/IEP.
Requirements:
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participate and complete Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
