Job Summary

The Institute for Family Health is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. As a key member of our medical team, the LPN will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and services under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe and effective patient care, including administering medications, performing treatments, and providing vital signs.
  • Assist patients with respiratory needs, including aerosol and inhalation treatments, and encourage coughing and deep breathing.
  • Perform oral and endotracheal suctioning, as well as therapeutic procedures and treatments, such as inserting and removing Foley catheters.
  • Assist patients with and reinforce the use of therapeutic equipment, including incentive spirometers and hot and cold packs.
  • Prepare and administer medications, observing patient response and documenting vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Collect specimens and document patient information.
Requirements
  • Certificate of completion from a practical nurse course of study.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in an ambulatory setting, preferred.
  • Demonstrated clinical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform venipuncture and administer medications, including immunizations.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills, including typing.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish, preferred.
  • Current New York State LPN license and registration.
  • Current BCLS, Infection Control, and Child Abuse Certificates required.
