Job Summary

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Research Participant Specialist to join our team at the Soffer Clinical Research Center in Miami. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for assisting in community outreach, recruitment, and enrollment of participants for clinical studies and trials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and implementation of overall recruiting strategies for clinical studies and trials.
  • Source and recruit study participants using various databases, social media, hospitals, mental health clinics, and other referral sources.
  • Prescreen and evaluate candidates for study participation, providing analytical and well-documented recruiting reports to leadership.
  • Act as a point of contact and build influential client relationships during the prescreen process, communicating effectively with participants and referral sources.
  • Market clinical trials to the community and participate in outreach events to promote study awareness, scheduling and conducting marketing presentations to various referral sources.
  • Understand clinical protocols, associated study specifications, and develop effective client recruitment programs accordingly.
  • Act as a primary liaison between referral sources and the organization, completing required forms during the initial evaluation and updating and maintaining patient databases with required information.
  • Visit referral sources to market clinical studies and trials, conducting face-to-face screenings and assessments to determine eligibility, communicating with family or persons involved in participant's care.
  • Design and develop client education materials as needed, attending and participating in meetings with interdisciplinary treatment teams as required.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality at all times, adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures, and safeguarding University assets.
Department-Specific Functions
  • Implement and uphold all Human Subject Protection procedures, including consent, confidentiality, and other relevant protocols.
  • Maintain accurate data on all record-keeping forms, transporting and maintaining computers, laptops, and other lab equipment as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum one year of related experience required.
  • Commitment to the University's core values.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
