About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at Animal Cove Pet Hospital. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our furry patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain vital signs and assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
  • Prepare animals for and assist through surgical and dental procedures
  • Perform daily laboratory tests, such as bloodwork, ear cytology, and urinalysis, and record results accurately
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels
  • Process and refill prescriptions
  • Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Maintain a stocked hospital and inventory of supplies, vaccines, and medications
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with and handling animals; knowledge of body language
  • Surgical and dental preparation and anesthesia monitoring
  • Nursing care and treatment skills, including IV catheter placement, blood draw, blood pressure with doppler, and medical calculations
  • Familiarity with veterinary terminology, pharmacology, and procedures
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and be on one's feet for 8 hours
