This position reports to the Safety Manager and is responsible for contributing to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance in the assigned area of responsibility. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on HSE and will be able to apply in-depth knowledge and expertise to support the business.
Key Responsibilities- Reporting HSE incidents to management and relevant stakeholders and taking appropriate actions.
- Facilitating, assisting, and providing guidance on incident investigations to learn better ways for mitigating risks.
- Providing feedback to management and employees on lessons learned and best practices from within their own unit and across the organization.
- Supporting and driving behavioral change through the local implementation of group-wide and business-specific performance improvement programs and practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field with manufacturing experience dealing with safety and environmental programs.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) preferred.
- Previous experience with hazardous materials disposal and DOT Hazmat requirements preferred.
- Must possess a good working knowledge and application of current Local, State, and Federal Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations.
- Experience investigating EHS incidents and assessing risk is required.
- Ability to develop materials, facilitate presentations, and deliver effective safety training is required.
- Must be able to advise and guide managers and supervisors on accident-prevention and loss control enhancements and provide interpretation of related policies and procedures; ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with federal, state, and local regulators is required.
- Experience with OSHA 510, 511 for CFRs 1910 and 1926 is preferred.
- Experience with Intelex HSE software is a plus.
- Professional Certification (ASP, CSP, CIH, etc.) from a nationally recognized organization is a plus.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certified, or instructor certification a plus.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
