Role Summary:
This telecommunications technician position within the 844th Communication Group (CG) focuses on delivering maintenance and operational support for telephony systems. Key responsibilities encompass surveying, installing, troubleshooting, and auditing the physical connections utilized for telephone systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Tier 2 and 3 maintenance support for telephony systems.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of existing copper circuits.
- Collaborate with the Government Voice Engineer to uphold the copper infrastructure.
- Manage ISDN/POTS telephony architecture.
- Trace, label, and maintain current copper lines.
- Conduct audits to ensure adherence to AF Standards.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) on CDNs and generate maintenance cutsheets.
- Terminate cables on the main distribution frame.
- Report any deteriorating conditions of copper cabling.
- Ensure precise device location information in emergency services systems.
- Assist in transitioning analog and legacy digital services to IP-based solutions.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience with ISDN, POTS, Nortel MSL 100, and Voice over Internet Protocol.
- Secret Security Clearance is mandatory.
- Security+ Certification is required.
