Role Summary: The Area Service Manager (ASM) will report directly to the Operations Manager and will oversee the technician team. The ideal candidate will be a technical authority in the field, demonstrating superior craftsmanship, effective communication skills, and a commitment to ongoing education. Experience in successfully managing commercial service technicians is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain local customer relationships in collaboration with RSM and Account Managers.

Service Meetings:

  • Conduct weekly service meetings.
  • Communicate goals and objectives for the assigned area, providing technicians with performance feedback.
  • Recognize top performers.
  • Inspect all service vehicles during meetings.
  • Ensure technicians have appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Discuss safety topics weekly.
  • Review new customer requirements.
  • Address callbacks and additional repair needs.
  • Gather feedback from technicians regarding scheduling and operational issues.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience as an HVAC service technician; management experience is advantageous.
  • Technical expertise to provide value to technicians and clients.
  • Commitment to continuous education in the technical field.
  • Ability to engage in professional conversations with customers and resolve issues proactively.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Focus on achieving desired outcomes.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Experience in recruiting and hiring technicians.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Capability to handle a 32-foot ladder weighing approximately 96 pounds.
  • Must adhere to ladder safety ratings.
  • Extensive kneeling and squatting may be required.
  • Ability to climb ladders multiple times.
  • Must transport equipment and tools to elevated locations.
  • Willingness to drive for extended periods, potentially up to 8-10 hours daily.
