Essential Functions:
Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
Prepares equipment and supplies.
Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
Implements safety standards and performs quality control procedures on equipment.
Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
Positions patients and performs imaging procedures.
Analyzes results and identifies issues with imaging quality.
Takes action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures.
Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
Covers shifts/hours as needed for departmental requirements.
Must be willing to train and work in multiple modalities as needed for coverage.
Required to meet requirements of radiology clinical ladder.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Education: Graduate of a program in discipline - required or validated by current licensure.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree - 2 years experience as a registered RT or competent to work in at least 1 additional modality.
Required Skills: Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
Licenses: Kentucky State Radiation Operators License.
