Position Summary:
Dentsu International is on the lookout for a Data Protection and Privacy Counsel to join our Americas Legal & Compliance team. This role will focus on supporting strategic privacy initiatives while providing transactional, policy, regulatory, and compliance assistance to our advertising agencies across the Americas, particularly in the U.S. market.

Reporting to the Senior Data Protection & Privacy Counsel, this position entails handling a diverse range of commercial matters related to data protection and privacy throughout the organization. Responsibilities include contract negotiations, aiding innovative commercial projects, and offering guidance on new and existing products and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of data-centric terms in contracts and amendments to ensure compliance with privacy legislation across the Americas.
  • Collaborate with the Americas Legal & Compliance team and enterprise functions to provide insights on privacy issues in coordination with global legal and compliance teams.
  • Advise on relevant laws and regulations regarding marketing and advertising data usage, including CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and HIPAA.
  • Support business and technology partners in product and service development aligned with regional data privacy programs.
  • Assist in the creation of regional policies and processes to mitigate legal risks associated with data processing.
  • Draft internal and external privacy disclosures and notices.
  • Establish strong working relationships with business teams and other legal departments.
  • Stay updated on changes to data protection laws and advise on necessary organizational adjustments.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate with 2-5 years of experience primarily focused on data privacy in an in-house, law firm, or consulting environment.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international privacy laws, including U.S. federal and state legislation, GDPR, and LGPD.
  • Familiarity with direct marketing and financial information regulations is advantageous.
  • Certification as a Certified Information Privacy Professional is a plus.
  • Experience with advertising and marketing technology is preferred.

Work Environment:
This position allows for remote work, with occasional in-person meetings required.

Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $136,000 and $219,650, influenced by experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is also available.
