This role offers the flexibility to work remotely or from various Energy offices across the United States.
Our team delivers a comprehensive array of electrical engineering services across multiple market sectors, including:
- Transmission (substations, overhead and underground systems, generator interconnections, interconnection strategy)
- Renewable Generation (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind)
- Power Distribution (overhead and underground systems, EV charging networks, microgrid design)
- Next Generation Energy (hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolyzers)
We are in search of an experienced engineering professional with a background in solar PV design and power engineering to enhance our offerings to new clients while maintaining relationships with our existing clientele.
Qualified candidates will possess a robust background in solar engineering, with experience in leading projects and taking responsibility for key tasks.
The ideal candidate is expected to be detail-oriented and capable of making independent decisions under the guidance of senior personnel.
Experience in the power industry, particularly related to solar engineering, design, and their interconnection and distribution systems, is essential. Familiarity with battery energy storage and/or wind power is advantageous.
This position presents an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a solid technical foundation who is eager to advance into a project leadership role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the solar PV electrical engineering design for assigned projects.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers and Project Managers to develop design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering tasks.
- Support business development initiatives related to renewable energy projects.
- Monitor project progress to ensure quality, timely, and budget-compliant delivery.
- Design solar PV systems, including array layouts, DC string sizing, equipment layouts, and utility interconnections for various mounting systems.
- Model energy production for solar PV systems.
- Develop specifications for solar construction and equipment.
- Conduct engineering calculations, including NEC maximum system voltage, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection sizing, and voltage drop.
- Assist in producing drawings, including one-line and three-line diagrams, and cable and conduit schedules.
- Prepare a Bill of Materials and conduct cost estimation and payback evaluations for PV systems.
- Design DC and low to medium voltage power distribution systems.
- Support projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from feasibility to commissioning.
- Participate in client meetings and present engineering work.
- Occasional travel to client and project sites may be required.
Level-Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized technical input and quality control reviews for design efforts.
- Participate in the development of technical proposals and provide estimates for engineering budgets and schedules.
- Review and approve work prepared by team members, ensuring adherence to technical and safety standards.
